Family coaches like Ms Angel Choy from MSF play a vital role in supporting lower-income families in Singapore, helping them overcome challenges such as illness, debt, and caregiving stress. Under the ComLink+ programme, eligible lower-income families are paired with a dedicated family coach, who works closely with various agencies to connect them to relevant support initiatives. These include non-profits like KidSTART Singapore, which equips parents of children aged six and below with tools to support early child development.
In one instance, Ms Choy supported a mother who had a new baby 10 years after her first child, and through KidSTART, the mother received guidance on early child development, while Ms Choy assisted in securing an infant care placement for her baby. KidSTART was also highlighted for providing regular check-ins, home visits and parenting guidance — all of which help give children a good start in life.
